Preparing for Family Pictures

I love taking pictures.  I also love having my picture taken.  I have been wanting to have pictures taken of the family, especially with the addition of Little Miss to the Giles Family equation.  Well today is the day.  I found out, accidentally, that one of my coworker's is a photographer.  When she told me that she was offering a few mini sessions, I jumped at the chance.  I can't wait to see what we came up with today.

The last time we attempted to take family pictures, I walked away so frustrated, that I wished we hadn't even tried.  Micah was tired and not cooperative at all.  Mikey did not help the situation either.  I am a little worried about today, but hoping for the best.  Micah has recently started refusing to take pictures, or making funny faces when he will stand still for a picture.  Jenn was awesome with him.

The process of figuring out what to wear took several days.  Actually, it's been several weeks that I've been thinking about what we would wear today. I've been thinking about it even before I knew that today would be the day we would take pictures.  Here's what we ended up choosing.

Proud Big Brother

Micah is slowly adjusting to Corrin's presence.  He likes to "hold" her.  He's also very helpful.  He will get things for her, like her pacifier and her blanket. We are also starting to see some signs of jealousy, particularly when Mikey interacts with her.  If Micah realizes that Mikey is holding Corrin, he has to be held also.  If you talk to Corrin or kiss her, you have to do the same with Micah.  Typical behavior for a nearly two year old with a new sibling.

Forgive the cell phone pictures. I'm working on taking more pictures with the big camera.

P52: Week 1 {Resolution}

I am not, nor do I claim to be, a great photographer.  I like taking pictures, both in front of and behind the camera.  I would like to be a better photographer.  That's why I want to take a course in photography.  While I'm waiting on that to happen, I'm going to participate in a photography challenge.  I may not enter an image each week, but I'm guessing that this challenge will help me to figure out some things.  Also last year, around this time, I said I was going to participate in a free online photography course that I had found.  That didn't work out.  I think it was a combination of free {not losing any money} and online {not personally accountable to anyone} that made me not stick it out.  I think I am going to try again.

Now about the challenge.

project 52 p52 weekly photo challenge my3boybarians.com

Darcy is hosting Project 52 Photography Challenge at Life With My 3 Boybarians.  This week's theme is Resolution.  Since my resolution, inspiration, was actually a theme, I was having some difficulty figuring out what to photograph.

Week 1 {Resolution}
SOOC; Nikon D5000; f/ 3.5; 1/640; focal length 18mm

I chose a photo of a sunrise.  My resolution is to find inspiration in each new day and each new opportunity.

Impromtu Photo Shoot Part 2

Back in December I snapped a few shots of Micah in our apartment.  In honor of the fact that we'll be moved into our house soon, I snapped a few more.  Look at the difference between Micah then and now.

Learning

Way back in February of last year, Mikey and I purchased a Nikon D5000.  I have been promising myself since then (almost a year) that I would learn to take better pictures.  I haven't started that process yet, but no more.  I can't afford to pay to take a class, but I've found THIS online course, and I will participate, starting next week.

HERE is the first lesson. I'll post my work samples at the end of each week. Wish me luck.
