Happy Blogoversary!
Growing Up Giles is one whole year old. I had been toying around with the idea of blogging for a while before I actually did it, but didn't have anything to blog about. Then one year ago, I found out that I was going to have my first child. And Growing Up Giles was born. This year has been a fun ride, and I'm looking forward to this next year. There are some things in the making, and Growing Up Giles may be going in a new direction. Time will tell.
Happy Blogaversary!

One Year Ago...
One year ago today, Mikey and I found out that our world was about to change forever.
My body changed from this...
...to this...
...to this...
Then, our blessing came into the world.
It's been a wild ride, but I'm ready for what the next year will bring.

Conversation with Micah
Micah likes to talk. Here is a video of our conversation from last night at around midnight. He woke up, and needed to talk.
He finds this video of himself hilarious, and laughs every time I play it for him.

Micah @ 4 Months Old
At four months old, Micah...
... weighs 15 pounds, 7 ounces and is 25 inches long.
... eats up to six ounces per feeding, and has started on jar food.
... is wearing size 3-6 month clothes, and size 3 diapers.
... hates being held like a baby, and usually fusses at you if you attempt to hold him laying in your arms. Unless, of course, you are feeding him.
... attempts to sit up, if he is laying down, or propped on pillows. He really wants to sit up like a big boy, and strains to do so, even though he cannot control his body well enough to sit unsupported.
... sleeps through the night most nights, and is sleeping in his own crib.
... is not rolling over. He doesn't even seem interested. He would rather work to sit up.
... still enjoys his baths.
... chews on his fingers. Sometimes he chomps down too hard on them, and hurts himself. He fusses for a hot second before he goes back to chewing on his fingers.
... Still no teeth, but there are signs they're on the way, including chewing on his fingers and lovey, spitting, and drooling.
... is pushing up when he lays on his tummy. It is so funny to see him laying on his tummy with his hands folded in front of him .
...is reaching for what he wants. His coordination is still not the best, but he is trying and getting better at it every day.
... gave his first laugh. He finds the silliest things funny, and since I enjoy seeing him smile and hearing him laugh, I try to oblige him.
... covers his face with his lovey, the sheets, or blankets. For some reason he loves feeling them on his face. It's disconcerting, because I worry about him suffocating, but he just puts it right back if I pull them away from his face.
... goes by the nicknames Toot, Gus-Gus, Chubba-Chub, Micah Maine (mommy), and Micah Man (daddy).

Here's how we ended a very short photo session. Three pictures short. He wasn't feeling having his picture taken tonight.

Eating...
Today, I fed Micah baby food for the first time. He had peas. He took them in quite well, though he looked a little confused at first. He also held his bottle today.
After a nap or two, and some serious conversation with mommy, he tried the peas.
He ended up taking more than I thought he would. Then he washed it down with some milk, and called it a night. He's laying beside me snoring now.
With Mimi's help at first. |
Then he pulled it away, and held it himself. |
Okay Mommy, I'm going to try it. |
I'm not sure about this stuff. |
Not as bad as I thought. |

Seventeen Weeks Old
Micah had a very busy day today. He went to the doctor for his four month well baby check-up. He ate his first baby food. He rode in the stroller without the benefit of his car seat carrier. He also is not feeling good tonight after two shots today at the doctors. Here's the seventeen week old.
This is his face when eating.

The Lovey!
I mentioned before that Micah loves having his blanket, the sheets, or anything else in his face. He needed a lovey, so I made him one. Here he is enjoying his lovey. His mimi chose the fabric.

New Toy
Check out Micah's new toy. I was supposed to spend yesterday evening making Micah's lovey, but plans changed. Instead we got in the car and went to go pick up his new Bright Start Bounce-A-Bout. I think he likes it.
