Micah had his 12 month doctor's appointment today. First, I got a call yesterday from the doctor's office at 4:20 pm. They kindly informed me that Micah would not be able to be vaccinated due to the fact that they were out of vaccinations, and were not expecting any more any time soon. She also informed me that we could still come in for the well baby check-up, and go to another doctor's office or the heath department for the vaccines. We decided to go for the well baby check-up anyway, because Micah has been tugging at his ears, and I wanted to get them checked out. There were also a few other issues that I had questions about.
His appointment went well, and Micah is a healthy boy. He weighed in at 22 pounds, 9 ounces {average}. He is 30 inches tall {slightly above average}. His head is 46.5 centimeters in circumference {average}. We discussed his diet, sleep habits, and other general things. The doctor recommended new foods to introduce to his diet. She also recommended a multivitamin drop for him to ensure that he gets all his nutrients. He is still having difficulties with his eczema, and she recommended another soap for Micah's to use. She gave us a recommendation for a pediatric dentist also. The doctor checked Micah's ears, and said he has "great ears." Apparently, sometimes babies who are teething tug at their ears too. Finally the nurses did a blood draw to check for the presence of lead and to check for anemia. Micah did not like this at all. I think he had more of a problem with being held down, than with the actual blood draw. During his appointment, Micah destroyed the paper that was covering the examination table. I wish I had taken a picture before the nurse recovered it. It was ripped to shreds. After the blood draw was done, we got Micah dressed and did a little grocery shopping, before we came home. Once home, we took a short walk since it was a little windy. And Micah is officially done with formula. We are trying Lactaid first, and will probably eventually try whole milk. Micah seems to like it. His bottles are also disappearing again. He has been doing really well with the sippy cup for a few days.
