Back in December I snapped a few shots of Micah in our apartment. In honor of the fact that we'll be moved into our house soon, I snapped a few more. Look at the difference between Micah then and now.
Then...
Now...
My baby is growing too quickly!

Home Work
This week, we are working on our house. Appliances have been purchased and delivered. They are sitting in the floor wherever they would fit until they can be installed. Wall are being painted. The colors we chose are looking nice. Lots and lots of packing and moving is happening. My apartment looks a mess. The house looks like a disaster area. I'll be so happy when this move is complete and everything is in it's place.
Packing and moving with an infant is hard work. Micah mandates that I stop and feed him, or play with him, or put him to sleep quite often. He's a good baby, but there's only so much he can do to entertain himself. Though he does a pretty good job when he does entertain himself.
We've had some setbacks with moving. Like the fact that we had to hire an electrician to come out and replace our meter box. The power company won't give us electricity without it. I'm more than a little upset, because the seller was supposed to do this before closing, and had reported that it was complete. So much for honesty in business. But overall, things are going relatively well.
We'll be in our home soon, and this will be a distant memory, but for now I wish it were over and done with. (I'll post pictures of our "progress" soon.)

Randomness
Welcome to another rambling post of randomness. Enjoy!
So, I'm working on a project for Micah's room. Silhouettes are popular right now all over the web. I decided I need one of Micah. I saw this post over on YHL back in October, even before Micah was born. I knew then that I was going to have to do this. It took me a while to get a profile shot, and when I did, it was an accident. I'm not done yet, but here's what I have so far.
Now I have to cut the the actual silhouette out of black cardstock, find a frame, find background paper, and put it all together. When I'm done, I'll show you. I'm excited to actually be working on Micah's room. I also have some fabric that is the color inspiration for his room. I want him to have a fun, colorful nursery/toddler room, without it screaming that a baby lives here. Here's the fabric.
I'm looking forward to showing you all the things that I have going for Micah's room, and the rest of the house too.
I have been trying for a few days now to get video of Micah "talking" for his Auntie, who's not feeling well. It took me several tries over two or three days to finally get an almost decent video. Either Micah won't talk, or I sound weird talking to him trying to get him to talk (and he still won't talk). The funny thing is he thinks it is the funniest thing when he hears himself talking on video and starts talking back immediately. The problem is that he stops as soon as I start videoing.
I have taken the plunge. I have joined twitter. Not because I think anyone is interested in anything that I have to say, but because I'm greedy. That's right, I'm greedy. Often when bloggers host giveaways an option for entries is to tweet about the giveaway. I entered this giveaway, and I joined Twitter so that I could tweet about it for another entry. All Things Thrifty is giving away a custom address stamper, and I want one. I told you I was greedy. And just in case you didn't guess, I'm blogging about the giveaway so that I can have another entry. My greed knows no end, but I really want an address stamper. I don't know about you, but free is my favorite price, and this is right up my alley. I want to get one anyway, but I would love it if I got one free. (I can be followed HERE.)
I am working on DIYing Micah's first Easter basket. It won't have much in it, but he couldn't not have a basket for his first Easter. I'm also working on another quilt for my cousin's daughter. It would have been done long before now, except that my sewing machine has decided that it hates me. I can't say much though because the machine was really inexpensive, and meant for beginners. I just expected it to last a little longer since I'm still a beginner and I haven't been using it unreasonably. It would probably not be a problem if I would just sit down, and work on correcting it.
Mikey and I bought new appliances for the kitchen. They haven't been delivered yet, for a multitude of reasons, but once they're in, I'll tell you about them.
It's been a pleasure spilling out some randomness.

Here are a couple different sizes of the silhouette. |

I am forever saving a picture from one website or another of things that catch my eye. The problem is, I rarely remember where I found the picture. Pinterest is the answer to my problem. It allows you to pin pictures online, and even lets you leave yourself notes about the picture and remembers where you found the picture. I love it. I am slowly adding to my pins.

Micah @ 5 Months Old
Micah is five months old today! And growing like a weed. It absolutely amazes me everyday to witness the miracle that is him. In my career I have to have an understanding of child development, but it still is amazing to see him grow and develop. He has such a personality. It is a mixture of Mikey, my sister, and myself. I am beginning to fear the things I am sure I am going to go through with him. Hopefully he won't decide he's Superman (like his father did as a little boy).
At five months old, Micah...
... wears size 6-9 months clothes, and size 3 diapers.
... is able to roll from his back to his tummy. No tummy to back yet.
... hustles when he's on his belly. I have found him at the foot of his crib in the morning.
... still wants to sit up, and is better at controlling his body. He hates being held like a baby unless he is falling asleep.
... has much better control of his arms and hands. He is able to reach for objects that he wants, and grasp things in his hand without dropping them immediately. He's still figuring out how to get his mimi's glasses off her face, but it won't be long now before he figures it out.
... is almost certainly left-handed. In my family, certain physical traits are grouped together with left-handedness. Micah has the physical traits, and he uses his left hand more often and more easily than he uses his right. I think I have a lefty on my hands. He would be in the company of his mimi and auntie if this is true.
... stands on his legs, and is able to pull up to standing from sitting when holding your fingers. He thinks this is so funny.
... sleeps through the night, though he has had a few nights where he decided that he needed a middle of the night feeding. Those times lasted about a week, and I'm almost certain he was growing.
... has got to be getting teeth soon. He chews on his bottle, pacifier, fingers, and bibs all the time. He's drooling and blowing bubbles. I need to find him a teether that he can hold.
... is now eating jar foods. At his four month appointment his doctor told me (before I could ask) to that I could start him on jar food. At first he wasn't too sure about it, but he has decided since then that he loves his food. Now he knows how to open his mouth for the spoon, and fusses if you don't feed him fast enough. He also enjoys airplane sounds when eating. He has tried peaches, peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, green beans, bananas, pears, and squash. (In that order.) He enjoys all of them with the exception of peas and bananas. I have to try him with them again.
... hums. I first realized during a road trip that Micah was humming. At first I thought it was a new sound that he was testing out. Then my mom pointed out that he was humming. I usually have the radio playing, but on this trip I was talking with my mom, and the radio was off. I guess Micah wanted some music so he decided to create his own.
... has had his first bout of illness. Just this week Micah had a stomach virus. It ran it's course within 24 hours, but I was one miserable mommy. It is absolutely NO fun to watch your baby be sick, and not be able to do anything about it.
... goes by the nicknames Toot, Gus-Gus, Chubba-Chub, and MicahMaine.
