Down Goes Pregzilla

I had a doctor's appointment today.  The appointment was set for 10:15 this morning.  I woke up with plenty of time to spare.  Actually, Mikey forgot that I had a doctor's appointment.  He woke me to go to work.  He thought I had overslept.  Anyway, I got dressed, and headed for my appointment.  I made it there with plenty of time to spare.  I got out of my truck, and headed into the building for my appointment.  I stepped up onto the curb, and then I fell.  That's right!  I fell.  I fell right onto my belly.  And suddenly there were fifty-eleven people there.  I didn't know what to think.  I still am not 100% sure what happened.

The crowd helped me up into a sitting position.  Then one lady went to get a wheelchair, because I could tell that I had hurt my knee.  She took me up to my doctor's office, and notified the desk that I had fallen coming in for my appointment.  There was no wait this week.  I was immediately taken for the biophysical profile.  Corrin wasn't very cooperative.  As a matter of fact, she was down right obstinate.  I felt myself starting to panic.  Finally, however, she decided that it wasn't worth the hassle, and did what she needed to do.  She passed with a score of 8 out of 8 again.  I was then immediately checked in for my appointment, and went almost directly into a room.  The doctor came in, and checked me over again.  I had bruised my knee and scraped my palms.  Other than that, all was well.  The doctor sent me home with instructions to take it easy and ice my knee.

I really don't know exactly how I fell.  I wasn't rushing.  I know I stepped up onto the curb.  The only thing I can figure is that I took the step, and then Corrin moved, causing the muscle in my leg to pull.  All I know is that I could not catch my balance after I started falling, and down went pregzilla!

Oddly enough, when I got home, and had rested up, Micah managed to push me down too.  I was walking toward the couch, and he decided that I needed some more excitement in my life.  He walked up behind me, and pushed me.  I was close enough to the couch to catch myself.

Uncle Monkey says that my children have it out for me.  He may be onto something.

35 Weeks Update

At 35 weeks gestation...

... Corrin has passed another biophysical profile with a score of 8 out of 8.  I also just realized today, that we only have three more scheduled doctor's visits before Baby Girl is here.  I'm so excited to meet her.  At this appointment, we also had a growth scan.  According to the growth scan, Corrin weighs roughly five pounds, 2 ounces {give or take a half pound.}  Micah weighed 5 pounds, 14 ounces when he was born at 37 weeks gestation.  I think Corrin is going to be bigger than Micah when she's born.  The appointment took a turn for the worse after that.  I was directed to the wrong area for the remainder of my appointment.  Then I waited for way too long to be called back.  When I finally asked how long my wait would be, the staff realized that I shouldn't be there.  I was under the assumption that the doctor that I was supposed to see had been called away for a delivery and I was being fitted into someone else's schedule.  Instead, the doctor was waiting for me, and I was waiting in the wrong area.  It finally got figured out, and the next time, they had better be waiting on me.

... I also got a prescription for pain medicine for my back pain at my last appointment.  It works, probably too well.  The first time I took it, I slept for hours and didn't even realize I had fallen asleep.  Then it took me about an hour to wake up fully.

... when I left the appointment, of course my first stop was to pick up my prescription at the pharmacy.  There, I had to explain to the lady at the window, that I did indeed have prescription coverage.  Finally that was straightened out, and I was able to go home, eat, and get in the bed.

... I've had a cold since Monday {when I left work early}.  The doctor told me that I was more susceptible because my immune system is compromised by the pregnancy.  She also let me know that it will probably take me longer to get over the cold also, for the same reason.  I think she's right, because I'm still not 100%.

...  my Caesarean section is finally scheduled.  The doctors decided to have us wait until 38 weeks, but I'm okay with that. The reason is to be sure that her lungs have had as much time to develop as possible.  While I'm so very ready for the pain that has come with this pregnancy to end, I would prefer to be in physical pain than to have to deal with the emotional pain of visiting my Baby Girl in the NICU.

... Mikey laid his head on my belly, and he could hear Corrin's heartbeat.  He loved it.

... I still need to begin preparing for Corrin's arrival.  Remember my list here? Well only one of the nine items has been accomplished.  We're doing very badly.  I want to be done, but I can't find the energy.  I have such grand plans in my head though.  Maybe I'll get the energy to put together a mood board.

... Round. Ligament. Pain.  Enough said.  I literally worry that I am going to fall at any given moment because it feels like the muscles in my legs are suddenly shortening.  Not fun.  It also tends to worry the people around me.  Something about the pregnant lady nearly falling does that I guess.

I weigh 132 pounds, and my waist {if you want to call it that} measures at 37 inches around.  My waist is officially bigger around than my husband's.

Another First

Photobucket
Micah has had his first official bloodletting.  Really, he had a run-in with a piece of furniture.  The piece of furniture won.  I recently rearranged our family room furniture to make it easier for him to cruise the furniture, and hopefully, encourage him to gather up the courage to take steps independently.  I think that he was attempting to transition from the couch to the coffee table when he lost his balance and fell head first into the coffee table.  He cried loudly.  I comforted him.  Mikey fetched his sippy cup.  Then I noticed that he had a small cut on his eyelid.  I did some doctoring, and slapped a band-aid on it.  He was right as rain not too long after that.  Still a little fussy, but doing okay.  Then he went to bed.  Today, you would never know that anything happened except for the band-aid on his eye.

Under The Weather

Yesterday, Micah started acting a little funny after his nap.  He was whining and fussy.  He wasn't happy with anything, even his daddy.  The kicker for me was that he would actually let me hold him, and fell asleep in my arms.  He never does that.  Fast forward to today, and I am becoming convinced that my baby is getting sick. Here's what under the weather looks like right now.

Hopefully he feels better soon.  We have Thanksgiving dinner to eat, and family and friends to hang out with.

Mama Said There'd Be Days Like This

And now for the not so wordless Wednesday post.  Yesterday was a rough day for Micah and I.  He was over-tired.  He woke up the night before at around 3:00 am and stayed up until about 5:00 am.  When he finally went to sleep, he slept until 11:30 am, but we were both tired.  Our day followed it's regular schedule for the most part after he woke up.  He ate and had a bath.  We played, and sing songs.  Then the doorbell rang and we talked to the Jehovah's Witnesses at the door.  They promised to visit again. I'm SO looking forward to that.  {That last sentence is pure sarcasm.}  Soon after they left, Micah went down for a nap.  But this mama made the mistake of going back into his room before he had actually fallen asleep. Big mistake. Big. Huge.  {Any guesses what movie that line came from?}

Micah decided then that he was not ready for a nap, and must get out of his crib immediately.  Understanding that I had messed up, and that he wouldn't go to sleep, I took him out of his crib.  Thus started the trying portion of our day.  After the aborted nap, Micah fussed and cried about any- and everything.  His toys wouldn't do what he wanted them to do.  I wouldn't hold him.  He couldn't climb the stairs.  He couldn't get his walker to go the direction he wanted.  Finally I was beginning to feel frustrated, so I took him to his room, and put him in his crib, and walked away.  He cried.  The most heartbreaking cries that I've heard in a long time.  And I felt like the world's worst mother.  I know I was being irrational, but I hate for him to be upset, even when I know that it's in his best interest.  A few minutes later, I went back to get him.  We snuggled on the couch for a while, and then my brain cells started firing again, and I decided to take him outside.  Micah loves the outdoors, and if nothing else calms him, going outside does.  After checking to make sure it wasn't too cool, we both put on our jackets and shoes, and headed outside.  And Micah was content.

Refusing to come inside already.
After our visit outside, we both felt better.  Micah went down for a nap shortly thereafter, and this mama relaxed {after I cooked dinner}.  He took his nap absolutely too late in the day, but it was well worth it for my sanity.  He woke up in a much better mood.  He played with his daddy, and went to bed a little before midnight.  Too late, I know, but after such a late nap, I'm happy he went to sleep then.  Of course he woke up absolutely too early in the morning (around 5:00 am) and wanted to play.  After about a half an hour, I was not feeling it, so he and Mikey cuddle on their side of the bed while I continued to try to get more sleep.  That didn't work.  Micah finally went back to sleep more than an hour later, just as Mikey got up to get ready for his day.  He was awake for the day at 9:45 this morning, and we've been going strong since then.  I love my boy, even on days like this.

And guess what I got up to while my two boys were entertaining one another?  Invites!

P.S.  Micah stood up from kneeling unsupported in the middle of the floor this morning.  He'll be walking soon!

Please excuse the mess.  Hurricane Micah struck again.

Oh. Hi! We're Still Here!

I haven't blogged in a week.  Not because I have been so busy, but mostly because nothing has been going on.  Micah and I have spent most mornings in our pajamas.  We haven't really gone anywhere or done anything.  Except Wednesday, when my cousin and I took our babies to the mall and out to lunch.  That's it.  But Micah got more mail from his Mimi.

She sent him a few outfits.  Here's my cutie modeling one of them.

Sadly, Micah has picked up a cold.  His little nose is running.  Friday night, he couldn't sleep because of the congestion.  We have his vaporizer with Vick's going throughout the night, and we're using saline drops to try to clear up the congestion.  Hopefully he feels better soon.

Lonely

Maternity leave can be very, very lonely.  And it's hitting me full force right now.  I spend all day, everyday with a little person who prefers sleeping and eating.  I didn't realize how much I need interaction with others.  I suppose when Micah is older, it will be better, but right now, he just sleeps and eats.

Today, Mikey is at the SEC Championship game in Atlanta.  My mom is spending the day with our church youth group.  And I am home with Micah.  Lonely.  But he's so cute.  It'll be better later.

Feeling Yucky

For most of this pregnancy, I have been experiencing almost all day nausea.  Well, I have officially crossed over.  Today was the day that my body decided that it didn't like me.  And the baby let me know that he or she does not like Burger King.  Hopefully there are no repeat performances.

Rough Start to the Week

Getting out of bed this Monday morning was one of the hardest things I have had to do in a good long while.  I did not want to go to work, or get out of bed, or even open my eyes when my alarm went off.  And I ended up feeling horrible all day.  I think it's the prenatal vitamins.  I was so nauseous all day at work.  Not wanting to wake up early plus severe nausea equals a very miserable Tasha.  I feel like I was so pathetic.  Hopefully tomorrow is better.

But I got a new book in the mail from my health insurance provider.  It is more about caring for a baby than pregnancy.
