Micah @ 10 Months Old

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Micah is ten months old, and such a mess.  It's hard to believe that he's been here longer than I carried him inside me.  At ten months old, Micah ...

...weighs 21.6 pounds, according to our home scale.

... Is such a daddy's boy.  He prefers to be with Mikey.  He would rather play with him.  He usually goes to Mikey if he calls, where I could call him until I lost my voice, and he would just ignore me.  He also cries if Mikey walks out of the room and he can't follow.  He even will cry if Mikey hands him to me.  Maybe the next baby will love me as much.

... is a master at crawling, but loves his walker.  He is pretty fast in it too.  At least he is on the kitchen floor.  He hasn't quite figured out walking on the carpet yet, but he's really close.

... is a clown.  He laughs at the silliest things, and often does things that he thinks are funny just to laugh.

... is currently in the process of getting three teeth at the same time.  He's getting two more on the bottom and one on the top.  It's been interesting around here, to say the least.  But Micah doesn't cry or fuss.  When his gums start bothering him, he either chews on his fingers or hits his mouth with his hand.

... loves food.  He's much more interested in what we're eating than baby food.  His favorites right now are shredded cheese and noodles.  He also loves water, but only if it's from a water bottle.

... is completely uninterested in a sippy cup.  He absolutely refuses to drink from one.  I'll be trying again soon, and hopefully he'll take it soon.

...  clicks his tongue.  He actually makes all sorts of funny sounds, but the tongue clicks are my favorite.

... definitely understands what no means.  Usually he stops what he is doing.  Sometimes he goes right back to it if you don't redirect him or remove him from the situation.

... climbs the stair like a professional stair climber.  He isn't allowed on the stairs often, but when we do, he can make his way up the stair without much help, though one of us is always behind him just in case.

... pulls up and cruises along the furniture.  Sometimes he will cruise along the catwalk banisters.

... will stand and release, but only if he's not paying attention.  It's only for a few seconds at the most, but he does it.

... will walk beside his car.  I think as soon as he gets a little braver, he'll be toddling all over the place.

... is still in size 3 diapers. He is in size 18 month clothes primarily, but can still wear some 12 month.

... goes by the nicknames Sugar Bear, Gus-Gus, Junior Junior, and Micah Man.

These Feet Were Made For Walking!

Micah has been showing signs of being ready to walk for quite some time.  He balances on his hands and feet. He will take steps when you are holding his hands.  He will stand unsupported for a few seconds, before falling when he realizes that nothing or no one is holding him up.  I am almost certain he will be an early walker.  Recently, his grandfathers, Mikey's (step)dad, bought him a walker.  I put him in tonight for the very first time, and he took off.

Micah is the first baby that I have every seen who went forward first instead of backward. He likes the walker.  Usually he will only stay in his jumper for about 15 minutes max.  He's been in his walker for nearly that long, and shows none of the typical signs that he's ready to get out.  I think his walker is going to be my favorite of his toys.

My Baby Can Read

Last night, Micah decided that he wanted to read.  We were playing in his room, and all of a sudden, he crawled over to his shelf, pulled himself up, and dragged a book off the shelf.  He then retrieved it from the bin it had fallen into, sat down, and flipped through the book. It was upside down most of the time, but he understands what should be happening.  I guess he really is paying attention when we read to him.

After he was done, he played some more.  Then he dragged every book he could off the shelf.  He is such a stinker, but we love him to pieces.  Who wouldn't love this face?

He is such a character!

Gallery Wall

Remember this picture?
It's from this post.  That is my husband on a very tall ladder, putting up the photo gallery that I had to have in time for the housewarming party.  I think it turned out nicely.

As you can see, we also got the roman shades that I wanted.  I am starting to like my family room.  It needs more color, but I'm working on it little by little.  As soon as I get my sewing machine fixed, I will be making pillows for the couch and love seat.

The laundry room is also on my mind, but it will have to wait.

Making Plans

I am a planner.  I may never follow through with the plan, but I make them.  Right now, I have three things on my mind: Halloween, Micah's first birthday, and Christmas.  This will be Micah's first Halloween.  For some reason, in my mind, his costume has to be perfect.  I have no idea what he's going to be dressed as, but I plan for it to be pretty awesome.  I don't know if he'll be walking by then, or still crawling.  I don't know if that will matter, but I'm taking it into consideration.  Any ideas? Leave a comment.

Before Micah was even born, Mikey and I decided that we were not throwing an elaborate first birthday party.  He won't remember his first birthday.  So now I am deciding how much effort I want to put into a very small party.  It will probably consist of his three cousins who live in the area, and the neighborhood kids.  That will be less than ten children including the birthday boy.  I am debating whether I want it to be themed. Probably.  What would the theme be? When? His birthday is on a Tuesday, but maybe on the Saturday following his birthday.  So many decisions to make.  I have three months.

Christmas! I love Christmas. It is my favorite holiday. This will be Micah's second Christmas, but he was only a few weeks old for his first Christmas. We didn't even buy him any gifts.  There was no need, since he wouldn't remember it even if we had.  This year he'll be one year old.  He won't remember this Christmas either, but he's old enough to play with toys.  Mikey and I have agreed that we will only gift our child(ren) with three gifts from Santa. The wise men gave the baby Jesus three gifts.  We plan for our children to understand that Jesus is the reason for the season.  This will also be our first Christmas in our own home.  I will get to decorate!  I haven't quite decided on our Christmas colors. But I have ideas. There will be a big Christmas tree and lots of lights, Christmas wreaths and bows, candy canes and ornaments.  I can't wait.
