Feeding Time

Photobucket

Micah learns new things all the time.  For a while now, I've thought that he has the fine motor skills to handle a spoon, but fear of the clean up has kept me from trying it.  That fear was all for nothing.  Micah does a good job of handling the spoon.  He still needs to be supervised to be sure that the container doesn't go flying, but I think he did very well.  See for yourself.

Sorry for the weird audio.

He's growing too fast!  What happened to my baby?

Winning

On a whimsy, I suggested that Mikey and I play cards last night.  We were just lazing in our room after Micah went to bed, but before we were ready for bed.  We played pitty-pat first, but then poker became the game of choice.  Neither Mikey or I are the best poker players, so we just kind of winged it.  Instead of betting money, we bet stuff.  Mikey ended up winning a massage.  He almost had a week of not having to change any poop diapers, but I won that one back.  I won a massage, foot rub, and a week of not having to change any poop diapers in the evening after Mikey gets home from work.  Unfortunately for me I lost two weeks free of dishes and a free Saturday with some spending money.  Foolishly instead of quitting, I played one more hand for a week free of dishes and lost the free Saturday.  I had already lost the two weeks of dishes, since Mikey hates doing the dishes.

At the end of the game, as we prepared for bed, we agreed that our poker game will be a monthly occurrence, prizes must be used before the next poker game, and a few other rules.  It was pretty fun for an impromptu game, and I'm happily declaring myself the winner for the month of January.

Micah's Happenings

Micah has been doing Micah things.  Here he is last night playing in the curtains.  A favorite thing to do around here.

So remember this post where I talked about working on a project for myself.  I mentioned that this would probably change and grow.  Well it's changed and grown.  My Birthday Bucket List has become Talking in Color, a blog for me and my interests.  {Not mommy related.}  Growing Up Giles will continue to focus on the Giles family and our home, but mostly Micah.  Check it out.

Cleaning Out The Closet

Photobucket
What lurks behind this door? A grievous monster.
Micah and I worked on cleaning out and organizing his closet yesterday.  It was a jumbled mess of disorganization and clutter.  I really did not want to think about taking this on, but I'm glad we got started.  We still have so much to do in this closet before we're done, but it's a start.  I'll let the pictures tell the story.

I should be ashamed to show this.

You should be able to see that we had a lot of work ahead of us.  First we emptied the closet, then we worked to organize the things that we put back into the closet.  We also hung Micah's clothes that were in his dresser on hangers in the closet.  This gives us a lot more drawer space.  I'll show his dresser when we finish with the closet.

Progress

So you can see that we did make some progress.  I still need to figure out a better way to store the items that Micah has outgrown.  We're saving those things for the as yet not conceived Baby Giles #2.  I also need some type of organization system to hang his blankets and other items in his closet.  I also need storage containers for the clothes that Micah has outgrown.  We're saving everything until they fall apart or we decide that we're done making babies.  We may work on this some more today, and it may wait until we have another burst of cleaning energy.
