Our Weekend Recap

I apologize in advance.  I did not take one, single picture over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.  I am a blogger slacker.  Continue if you would like to read about our weekend.

Our Thanksgiving weekend started Wednesday after I got off work.  When I got home, we loaded up the car, and hit the road, bound for South Carolina.  The trip was pretty uneventful.  Thanksgiving was wonderful.  We slept in.  Mimi cooked breakfast.  We ate, then we started getting ready for our day.  Auntie Angel cooked some delicious pound cakes.  Mimi made macaroni, and potato salad, and I made peach cobbler.  Then we headed over to my grandparent's house. We ate absolutely too much food, but it was so delicious that we all wanted more. After hanging out over there for a while, we headed to my other grandparent's house.  We laughed and talked with them for a while, before we headed back to Mimi's house to get dressed for church.  At least, the kids and I did.  Mikey went Black Friday shopping.  (On Thursday.)

Friday,  Corrin and I hung out together.  Mikey and Micah visited Mikey's family.  Corrin and I had a very relaxing day. We took naps, and watched television all day.  Mostly, we took naps.  That evening, we went to church, before meeting up with my best friends for dinner.  It's always fun when we all get together.

Saturday, we put up Mimi's Christmas tree, and hung out together.  Saturday night, we went to church for our annual revival's concert.  We also celebrated South Carolina's win over Clemson.  They had us worried for a while there, but Carolina pulled through for the win.

Sunday, we woke up late, but headed to church anyway.  After church, we ate and packed up the car. Then we made a few stops to see a few people that we missed during the rest of our visit.  Finally we were on our way home.  We made it home absolutely too late, especially since I had to go to work today.   We say it every time we go home, but here goes...  The next time, we are going to leave at a reasonable time, so we can get a good night's sleep.

Transitioning

Mikey and I have been going back and forth for quite a while about when to transition Micah into a toddler bed.  Really, Mikey was okay with transitioning him whenever.  I, on the other hand, did not want to transition him too soon.  I also did not really want to deal with the stress that can come with transitioning children from the confinement of a crib to the freedom of a toddler bed.  Mostly, I don't want my baby to be growing up so fast.

Well after Micah and Corrin's doctor appointment Friday, we decided that it was time.  Micah is 36 inches tall.  That is the recommended maximum height for his crib.  Friday night was a success.  Mikey and I let him stay up a little later than we normally would.  Micah went to bed, and slept through the night.  Success! Saturday night was not quite as successful.  He went to bed with no problem.  Then during the night, he fell out of the bed.  He was not a happy camper.

First night in the big boy bed!

I am waiting for the night when he appears in our bedroom without warning.  I am also waiting for him to realize that he doesn't have to stay put after we have put him to bed.  So far once we put him to bed he falls asleep without complaint.  He also stays in bed until we come in and get him.  It seems like I just brought him home from the hospital, and now he's two years old, and transitioning to a big boy bed.  So far I can't really complain about this transition.  My baby is growing up.  I am working on accepting this.  I am taking it one transition at a time.

Preparing for Family Pictures

I love taking pictures.  I also love having my picture taken.  I have been wanting to have pictures taken of the family, especially with the addition of Little Miss to the Giles Family equation.  Well today is the day.  I found out, accidentally, that one of my coworker's is a photographer.  When she told me that she was offering a few mini sessions, I jumped at the chance.  I can't wait to see what we came up with today.

The last time we attempted to take family pictures, I walked away so frustrated, that I wished we hadn't even tried.  Micah was tired and not cooperative at all.  Mikey did not help the situation either.  I am a little worried about today, but hoping for the best.  Micah has recently started refusing to take pictures, or making funny faces when he will stand still for a picture.  Jenn was awesome with him.

The process of figuring out what to wear took several days.  Actually, it's been several weeks that I've been thinking about what we would wear today. I've been thinking about it even before I knew that today would be the day we would take pictures.  Here's what we ended up choosing.

Snapshots

While everyone was here this past weekend, I took snapshots of Micah, Nik, and Angelo in the back yard. Pal wasn't feeling well, and stayed inside.  Micah of course was not very cooperative.  Angelo tried his hardest to eat every leaf he came into contact with.  Nik loved having his picture taken.

Two Years Old!

 Photobucket

At two years old, Micah...

... weighs 27 pounds, and is 36 inches tall.

... wears 24 month or 2T clothes.

... has an ever expanding vocabulary.  He has so many words, and many of them came out of left field for Mikey and I.  He's speaking in phrases and short sentences, and is using words to make himself understood instead of crying or whining.

... is very well mannered.  He says thank you, excuse me, bless you, and ma'am to name a few phrases.

Photobucket

... loves to sing and/or dance with music.  He has several songs that he will stop what he is doing to sing or dance.

... eats just about any and everything.  Really this little boy is a bottomless pit. There are times that he eats more than I do, and is still asking for more. He is also not a picky eater, and usually eats whatever we serve.

... is an extreme daddy's boy.  I may as well not exist at times, because his daddy is all he needs.  This has gotten better since Corrin's arrival, because he generally wants the attention of whoever is attending to Corrin.  Often that person is me, so I get more cuddles from Micah.

Photobucket

... is turning into a big helper.  He loves to help Mikey and I with whatever task we are working on. He will also retrieve items for us for Corrin, such as her blanket or a diaper.

... is turning out to be a great big brother.  He wants to hold Corrin, kisses her head when he goes to bed at night, and tries to share his toys with her.  Corrin likes to watch him.  I think she's going to adore him.

... is drooling.  It's driving me crazy.  I'm almost certain that he's working on his two year old molars, and I really wish they would come through so he can stop all the drooling.

... has chipped a tooth.

... loves airplanes, trains, and trucks.  He will stop what he's doing to watch them or look for them if he hears them.

Hair Love

I am falling in love with my hair again.  I went through a period where I was feeling really discouraged.  I loved it really short.  I think I will love it long.  I was not loving it at it's current length.  I am not a hair stylist.  I never really could style my own hair, even when it was relaxed.  I am slowly learning what to do with my hair now, and with that, starting to love it more.
