Toothies

We have teeth.  One has broken through the gums, and another is close.  I can't get a good picture, but as soon as I do, you'll see it.

Play Date

In our quest to get Mikey's father's day gift, we ended up in JellyBean's neighborhood.  Back in January, Micah and Jelly had their first playdate.  Since we were in the neighborhood, we stopped in for another.  It was so much fun seeing the boys together now that they can interact with each other.  They each thought the other was hilarious, and would randomly laugh at each other.  I discovered that Micah may be somewhat of a bully.  He would pull poor Jelly over to get closer to him.  I'm looking forward to them toddling around together, though hopefully we'll have more playdates before then.

And for added fun, on the trip home we stopped a few places to pick up some things for one of my friend's baby shower the next day.  Micah and my mom stayed in the car at a couple stops.  In no uncertain terms, Micah let me know that he's ready to be forward-facing in his carseat.  He managed to turn himself completely around.  I have no idea how he did it.
I love that his bib says TROUBLE IS MY MIDDLE NAME!  It just seems fitting for the circumstances.

Micah & Me

This was Micah and I at about 4:30 am yesterday morning. He was congested, and having a hard time breathing, which interrupted his sleep.  My poor baby spent yesterday not feeling well.  I hope today is better.

Micah @ 7 Months Old

At seven months, Micah...

... weighs 19.8 pounds, according to our at home scale.  And he feels like it too.

... is still in size 3 diapers, and is mostly in size 12 months clothes though he can still fit in a size 9 month top.

... is a professional sitter, and can almost push himself up to sitting from laying down.

... still has no teeth.

... is pulling up to standing from sitting.

... remains a great sleeper.  He is so nosy though, that his naps aren't what they used to be.

... dances.  It is so funny to see him wiggling to music.  He sometimes hums and dances, and usually he'll dance if I start dancing.

... is able to move forward when on his belly.  It looks like an Army crawl, but he is working on getting up on his knees, and I predict he'll be crawling in no time.

... is eating grits, mashed potatoes, and bread in addition to jar food.

... loves the outdoors.  When he's upset we only have to take him outside for him to calm down.  I have a feeling that it's going to be a tough job keeping him inside in the next year or so.

... acknowledges you when you call his name, though can ignore you like nobody's business when he wants.

... decides if he wants to go from one person to another.  If he wants to go, he'll face you and sometimes leans over to you.  If he doesn't want to go, he turns his face and entire body into the person who is holding him, and laughs hysterically (with some squeals thrown in for good measure).

... blows spit bubbles constantly.

... likes to sleep with his face covered.

... is a rolling machine.  He has realized that he can get closer to you (or an item) faster by rolling.

... will face plant from a sitting position to get to something he wants.

... is fascinated by his shadow.  He often sits and stares at it, and sometimes talks to his shadow.

... loves his toys.  He has a ball, a musical radio, a couple rattles, and a small plushies that he takes turns playing with everyday.

... has monkey feet!  Seriously, he picks things up with his feet.  He holds his ball with his feet while he plays with it.  He holds his bottle with his feet.  He is ambidextrous with his hands and his feet.

... goes by the nicknames Gus-Gus, Chubba-Chub, MicahMan, Maine/Tremaine, and Toulouse.

Testing Limits

Micah has recently started scooting to get down when he is being held in your lap.  He can't crawl or walk yet, but he likes to stretch his legs apparently.  Well, earlier tonight he decided to take a stroll at his mimi's urging.

I am completely not ready for him to start walking yet.  I have barely begun to wrap my mind around the fact that he is almost ready to start crawling.  My baby is growing too fast.

Thirty Weeks Old

My baby is thirty weeks old today, and just shy of seven months old.  Time feels like it has flown.  It hit me the other day that soon I won't be able to contain him easily.  Not that it's easy to contain him now.  He has figured out that he can roll over to get close to what he wants, and he rolls so fast.  I am just biding my time until he figures out how to push himself forward.  I know that in no time, he's going to be crawling around, and soon he'll be cruising, then walking.  I am so proud of him with every milestone that he reaches, but I sure do miss the five pound, fourteen ounce snuggle bunny he used to be.  Now I can't get him to lay his head on my chest unless he's sleeping.  It's true what they say.  Treasure those moments while you have them.

He spent most of his time looking at the birds and passing vehicles.  These are the best that I could get.  And just for kicks, here's Micah laying on his mimi's bed talking to his shadow.

I love the sigh at the end.  It was like he had said so much that he had to take a deep breath.

Bowling & Chuck E. Cheese

We spent the day with Uncle N (my little, little brother).  He's been asking for a while now to go bowling and to Chuck E. Cheese.  Well today was the day.  We bowled a game of bowling.

This kid gave me a run for my money.  He's pretty good for a five year old.  When we were done at the bowling alley, we headed over to Chuck E. Cheese.  It was a blast.  We have to do this again soon.

Tired Baby

Micah is a really good sleeper,  but sometimes (usually during the day) he fights sleep to the point of exhaustion.  Tonight he was fussy and cranky.  I gave him his bottle, and when I looked again, this was him...
I think he was tired.

Summer To Do List

Summer time is close at hand, and here in the south it is already burning up.  School is out today, and in a couple weeks, I'll be done for the summer.  That means lots of free time, and Micah and I have a plan.  Here's how we're going to try to keep busy this summer.
There will be a few play-dates thrown in too.
