25 Days of Christmas

In an effort to (1) make Christmas 2011 memorable and (2) blog consistently, I’ll be attempting to do some activity with Micah each day of December leading up to Christmas.  And just because Christmas is my favorite holiday, I've decided to give the blog a Christmas look.

And I must say that I am super excited about Christmas.  This will be our first Christmas in our own home.

I think Micah's excited for Christmas!
So what do you think of the new look?

Birthday Party {Age:1}

Better late than never.  Here is a recap of Micah's cake and ice cream birthday party.
Photobucket
Micah's birthday party has come and gone.  It was a simple affair.  Invitations were verbal.  Though of course I made up a paper invite. (see above)  After a morning hair cut, and a nap that was too short, Micah and friends celebrated with cake, ice cream, and punch. The weather was awesome, and the kids had a blast playing outside.

Originally, before Micah was born, Mikey and I said that we would not make a big deal of Micah's first birthday.  We said we would do something simple at home with just the three of us, and have big birthday parties later when he was old enough to remember them, and know what was going on.  Somewhere in the past year that changed.  I didn't host the huge birthday party with a theme, and planned activities, and goody bags.  I did get to celebrate a year of Micah, and surviving our first year as a parent.

Our Thanksgiving Day

Our Turkey Day was spent with our family.   We woke up and spent the morning relaxing.  After eating breakfast, we  got dressed, and went to Mikey's (step)dad's house.  There we ate absolutely too much, and laughed too hard.  We then moved on to Mikey's dad's family dinner.  Mikey ate again, but I was still full from the first meal.  I'm not sure how he does that. We left there, and headed home to prepare for church.  Every year, my church hosts a revival during the week of Thanksgiving.  When we left church we went to my grandparents' home.  Of course I only have pictures from our first stop and a few from church.  Enjoy.

I am thankful for a wonderful Thanksgiving day, but...

It's beginning to look a lot like CHRISTMAS! Christmas is my favorite holiday.

First Hair Cut

Micah was born with a head full of hair.  Since the day he was born, his hair has grown significantly.  He went from this...

to this...

I must admit that I have been anticipating his first hair cut since his hair got too long to leave out in an afro without it being tangled and/or matted.  So here is where we are.  The day of reckoning.

Do we have to go?

A little video of the hair cut.

I must admit that Micah looks totally different to me with his hair cut.  I see a lot of Mikey's mom in him without all the hair.  A little bit of me misses the hair, but I'm sure that's just sentiment talking, because I'm also sure that I will not miss having to tame all that hair.  Micah looks like such a big boy now.  Now onward to walking.  Babies grow up too fast!

Giving Thanks

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I am thankful for a mighty God!  He has blessed me with an awesome husband who is the strength of our family.  He has blessed me with a beautiful baby boy, who is so full of life and energy. He makes everyday an amazing experience.  He has blessed me with an amazing woman as my mother.  I am sure that I would not be the person that I am today without my God-fearing mother.  He has blessed me with a large, loving family, both through blood and marriage.  He has blessed me with friends who laugh and cry with me (and at me).  He has blessed me with a beautiful home.  He has given me health and strength.   He has blessed me with a heart of thanksgiving.  I am truly blessed and full of thankfulness.

Everyday is a day of thanksgiving! What are you thankful for?

Under The Weather

Yesterday, Micah started acting a little funny after his nap.  He was whining and fussy.  He wasn't happy with anything, even his daddy.  The kicker for me was that he would actually let me hold him, and fell asleep in my arms.  He never does that.  Fast forward to today, and I am becoming convinced that my baby is getting sick. Here's what under the weather looks like right now.

Hopefully he feels better soon.  We have Thanksgiving dinner to eat, and family and friends to hang out with.

Cousins

Sierra and her mommy came to visit Micah the day after his birthday.  It is so much fun watching Micah and Sierra interact with each other, and play around each other.  They're not showing signs of jealousy, but they haven't figured out sharing yet.  And Sierra has a thing for hair pulling.  Micah spends a lot of time watching her to see what she's doing.  Sierra follows Micah around.  He's faster than she is right now, but that doesn't stop her from trying to keep up.
