14 Weeks

I'll try to update with the video and pictures tomorrow.  I'm headed to bed.

At 14 weeks gestation...
... my symptoms are pretty much gone.   I've still been really tired.  The nausea is gone except on very rare occasions, when I'm hungry.  I also have to get up every night, at least once to go potty.  I've been dreaming a lot lately too.  Mostly I dream about work.  It's not stressful.  I dream about the process that I do at work.

... I'm craving pickles and McAlister's Deli.  I've also wanted hot dogs, ice cream, and pasta.  But those aren't really cravings.  Once I've eaten them once, I'm over it.  The only aversion I've had is chicken.  Chicken is almost the only thing I could eat when I was pregnant with Micah.  It's kind of funny.

... my belly button has almost disappeared.  Before I gave birth to Micah, I had a pretty deep innie.  After having Micah, my belly button never really went back to the way it was before.  It went back to an innie, but it wasn't as deep.  In the last week, it has pretty much flattened out.  Hopefully, after this pregnancy, I won't have a permanent outie.

... I've been feeling distinct little thumps.  It's usually when I lay down at night or when I am still and resting my arm on my belly.  Big personality already.  At first I was convinced that I was imagining it, but it's happened more than a few times.  I didn't begin to think I was feeling movement with Micah until about 18 weeks.  It's amazing how much sooner I am feeling this baby.

... I really miss sleeping through the night.  I also miss having clothes that fit, and wearing my high heels.  I was looking forward to warm weather so I could wear my platform heels, and now they're too high.

...  I went in for my nuchal translucency scan last week.  I got to see the little one moving around and waving in there.  With Micah, I opted out of the nuchal scan.  Now I wish I had gotten the scan.  Oh well, hind sight is 20/20.

... weighed in at 114.6 pounds according to my home scale.  My waist is 30 3/4 inches around.  I definitely have a pouch now.  I have to wear maternity pants or dresses now, because my regular bottoms no longer fit.

Coming Home

Here's a video of our arrival home this evening. Micah loves being outside.  He also has to be anywhere his daddy is at any given time.

I Need More Time

I need more time with my baby.  The most difficult part of adjusting to this new job is the amount of time that I have to be away from Micah and the commute.  There are not enough hours in the day for us to earn money to give him all he needs (and some of what he wants), and to physically be there with him learning new things and exploring the world. The commute just lengthens the amount of time that we are away from Micah, and makes it worse.  Our commute is at least one hour each way, and most days it's even longer.

15 Months Appointment

Micah had his 15 month appointment in the middle of February.  He is still a very healthy little boy. We were fortunate to get an appointment at Micah's new pediatrician the Friday before I started my new job.  Micah has got a new pediatrician?  Yes, he does.  Allow me to explain why.

When Micah went in for his 12 month appointment in November, his former pediatrician didn't have any vaccines in stock.  The doctor's office called the day before to inform me so I could choose whether or not to keep the appointment.  The staff explained that they weren't sure when vaccines would be in stock.  I had some concerns, so I opted to take Micah to his appointment anyway.  Unfortunately, they did not explain that I would not be able to take him to another pediatrician for the vaccines without paying out of pocket.  If I had known that, I would have just cancelled the appointment, and found another pediatrician then.  When it was time for Micah's 15 month appointment, I called to find out if they had any vaccines in stock.  Unfortunately, I was in for a rude awakening.  I found out that the doctor's office had been closed since the end of December.  They neglected to notify the patients or their parents.  So we had to find a new pediatrician.

Luckily, there is a pediatrician office really close to our home that had an opening.  It turns out that I love these doctors just as much as I have loved both Micah's other pediatricians {aside from the last one closing shop without letting me know}.  Anyway, Micah played with the toys in the waiting area.  We had a really short wait, before we were called into our exam room.  Micah played while we waited for the doctor to get to us.  It didn't take long before the doctor was in to see us.  Micah checked out fine.  She gave us a prescription for a cream for Micah's eczema.  He weighed 23 pounds and 7 ounces, and was 32 1/4 inches long, which makes him long and lean.

He's Such A Boy

Micah turns 16 months old today.  I've realized more and more lately that Micah is interested in lots of things that are stereotypically thought of as boy activities.  He's interested in his stuff animals and pretending to clean also, but he is so rough and tumble usually.  I was supposed to have his 16 month stats ready to post today, but work got in the way.  So here's a video of Micah from last night playing with his truck.  He has his own sound effects and all.

Meeting New Cousins

Micah has gotten to meet two new cousins.  We finally got to meet Mr. Angelo, right before he headed back to Texas.  And another cousin of mine recently had a baby boy, KJ.  We took pictures of the babies with my great-grandmother, who is 96 years old.  Every time a new baby is born, we try to get pictures of all five generations.  Unfortunately, my uncle wasn't there, so he didn't get to be in the generational picture.  We'll try again at Easter.  Beware, there are a lot of pictures coming up, and they look a lot alike, but the babies are so precious I had to post them all.

Cam's Birthday Party

My god-son, Cameron, celebrated his fifth birthday in February.  He had a Cars themed birthday party, complete with a bounce house.  It started raining as soon as we got to the party, so I didn't get any pictures of the bounce house, unfortunately.  The company and the food were great.  Micah had a great time, and so did I.
