The Post That Almost Wasn't

I wasn't going to blog today.  I didn't have anything planned, and really had nothing to say.  Micah and I have had a pretty relaxed day so far.  He is taking a super awesome nap right now.  As a matter of fact, as I type this, it's roughly 4:15 pm and he went down for his nap at around 1:00 pm.  Like I said awesome nap.  Anyway, I was laying across my bed watching television and reading (while I could do those things uninterrupted), when I decided to grab a snack.  So I headed  downstairs.  Out of the corner of my eye I caught movement through the kitchen window. Wait a minute. Is someone in my backyard?  I turned to look out the kitchen window, and I did a double take.  "That could not possibly be what I think it is."  But it was!

Wild turkey!?! In my backyard!?!  In Atlanta?!?  Yes sir. I took absolutely too many pictures that I won't bore you with, but I was a little shocked.  I would expect to see something like this at my mom's house, but not at my own.  It makes me think of Thanksgiving.  There's my randomness for the day.

Update: Here's Farmer Micah.

Brown Eyes

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Micah has big brown eyes.  Eyes that don't miss a thing.  Eyes that sparkle when he laughs.  Eyes that have clogged tear ducts.    We went to the eye doctor to have Micah's eyes checked.  His pediatrician recommended it, because it appeared that Micah's eyes weren't draining properly.  Sure enough, the pediatric ophthalmologist confirmed that Micah's tear ducts are clogged.  We had hoped that he would grow out of this by now, but it has gotten to the point that something has to be done to help him along.  He has to have a procedure done where his tear ducts are probed and flushed to clear the obstruction.  It is the least invasive option.  A part of me is extremely anxious about the procedure, particularly because he will have to be sedated.  I have every expectation that everything will go smoothly, and we'll be in and out in no time.  But he's my baby and I'll always have just a little bit of worry in the back of my head.  Not looking forward to this.

More Cousins

We had more visitors!  These visitors were actually invited, however.  My cousin and her daughter came to visit.  Micah and Camille got to play with each other, and we watched movies.  It was quite interesting seeing Micah interact with Camille, who is a year and a half.

Cheese!  For some reason she tilts her head when she poses for a picture.

We have some things to work on.  Micah does not do sharing well at all.  Everything that Camille put her hand on, he was there in short order to drag it away from her.  She tried very hard to get him to understand.  She started out with, "Share, GusGus!"  That evolved into, "Mine!"  Then there was the pitiful, "No GusGus! Stop!" Micah did not care one little bit, and usually grabbed what he wanted and took it away, and dragged poor Camille down with him.

Fashion Show
After much playing, fighting, and giggling, Micah was ready for bed.  Camille ended the evening by attempting to change clothes, thus the fashion show.  These two were so funny together.  We'll have to work on Micah's sharing.  We also have to throw in a few lessons on being gentle.  He tackled Camille a few times.

Micah's Cleaning Services

Do you need your refrigerator cleaned?  Micah will do it for you.  And we won't even charge you for his services.  Granted, you'll have to clean it after he's done, but it's free.  And everybody loves free stuff.  We even have a commercial.
I know you're excited about Micah's services now.  Just let me know when you want to schedule him to come clean your fridge.

A Visitor & A Picnic

We have a very unwelcome guest right now.  He was uninvited, and is unwanted.  If I wasn't such a coward, I would evict him.  However, I am such a coward, and he will be allowed to stay until such time as someone less cowardly comes along and removes him.  I'm thinking about investing in a cat.

Can you see him?

How about now?

He's taunting me!

Well after that discovery, Micah and I went outside.  I figured if the outside critters were going to come into my home, we could go outside.  Really, Micah hadn't been outside all weekend, except to check the mailbox with Mikey, and he loves the outdoors. And it's on my fall fun list!  Though it did not feel like fall outside.  It was close to 90 degrees.  Definitely summer weather.  That's one thing about the south.  Summer hangs around as long as possible.

Turtle Crawl

Micah has interesting ways of entertaining himself.  He usually ends up entertaining me as well.  Earlier today, for some reason, he decided to climb under his walker and then crawled around the kitchen with it.

Fall Fun!

Today marks the first day of fall.  While summer is my favorite season, I like fall and spring as well. Fall brings cooler weather after hot southern summers.  It brings a new wardrobe, or at least a few new pieces for a current wardrobe. It brings football, and I've enjoyed the season so far. It brings changing leaves, though the trees in my yard look pretty summer like. Fall brings fun things to do.  We didn't do too well with our summer list, so we have to do better with the fall list.  We only accomplished 4 out of 15 things.  That's only 27%.  A complete failure.  So here you go, our Fall Fun List, in no particular order.
Hopefully we'll do better with this list.  Off to enjoy the weekend.

Happy Birthday!

Today we celebrate Mikey's birthday. You would think he hung the sun, and as far as Micah is concerned, he did. Micah loves his daddy, and it's obvious.

Cousins

My sister-in-law and niece came to visit Micah and I today.  Sierra is growing so fast.  She's just five months old (almost six months), and she's already crawling and pulling up on stuff.  I think she is trying to keep up with her older cousins.  She's a fiesty little thing too.  She squeals as loud as she can, and is generally a good time.  She had Micah running from her at one point, because she was pulling his hair and trying to pull up on him.

Then I put her in Micah's jumper, and she loved it.  She was spinning around trying to play with everything at one time.  It was so funny.  With just four months and a few miles between them, these two will grow up as playmates. I hope we can keep up with them

A New Trick

Micah is doing new things everyday, and well on his way to learning how to walk.  Here's his latest trick.

He was sitting on the floor near his walker.  He decided to use the walker to pull up, and then he just took off.  He'll learn steering soon enough.  Right now he's too busy talking to watch where he's going.

What Micah's Been Up To

So I haven't been the best blogger of lately.  I know this, and I'm working on it.  Here is what we have been up to lately.

*****

Mikey and I went to an Atlanta Falcon's preseason game.  It was fun.  I got to meet some of his coworkers, and I really enjoyed myself.  My sister came into town, and she babysat Micah for us.

We spent Labor Day weekend with our family.  We went to Short Stay, and Micah had his first boat ride.

Micah also got a new ride.  He is the only baby I know who went forward before he went backwards.  He is getting really fast in this thing too.

Micah escaped with the diaper during one of Daddy's diaper changes.

But then he decided to hang out with Daddy, and do some work on the computer.

Micah really doesn't like it when I sit down.  He feels that I should always be moving, and if I sit, I should be holding him in my lap.  He especially doesn't like my computer chair.  On this particular day, he crawled around behind me and stood up behind the chair.  Of course, I needed pictures.

My favorite.  I wish his face wasn't blurred.

Micah is enjoying his high chair lately.  As much as he likes to eat, he should enjoy it.  My grandfather refinished it.

We also see a bright future for our son.  Right now it appears he's going to be a mechanic when he grows up, but that may change next week.  You just never know.  Here he is fixing up his ride.

We haven't been up to much, but Micah keeps us entertained.
