Nine Weeks Old

Micah is nine weeks old, and he went to the doctor today for his two month check up.  Fortunately, this morning was nowhere near the mad house in the waiting room that we encountered at his first doctor's appointment.  We checked in, and waited to be called back.  While waiting, we encountered the cutest little two year old. She already understands that Carolina is better than Clemson.  Thumbs up to her ya-ya for teaching her the way to go.  There was also a little one, who appeared to be Micah's age.  They were the same size.  However, this baby was able to control his head and upper body. He was looking around and smiling and cooing at everyone.   Micah is not at that point yet.  I realized that the other baby must be at least a month or two older than Micah.  Then another lady came in with her baby, who was obviously around the same age as Micah, and he was smaller than Micah.  He had some head control, but was a little wobbly, and he couldn't control his upper body like the first baby.  Just like Micah.  I was a little worried about  my baby's weight before the doctor's visit, but sitting in the waiting room, I got really worried.  Finally, we were called back, just as the waiting room started to fill up.

First he was weighed and measured. Micah has grown! He now weighs in at twelve pounds, which is double his birth weight.  Uncle Monkey has informed me that Micah should not have reached this milestone until he reached five months of age. He is now 22 inches long.   And my poor baby.  He had to have two shots.  When the nurse stuck him the first time, he screamed.  Then he realized that it hurt, and he kept screaming.  He did calm down after I picked him up, but his cry face was so cute.   He got two purple band-aids on his chubby legs, got dressed, and we left the building.

He is growing so fast, and I wish I could bottle him up, and keep a part of him this age forever.  Another part of me however, is ready to see the personality that we are catching glimpses of now, and the man that he will grow to be.
